Branding can be a daunting process and many think of design agencies as costly and intimidating. Nurtur is a purposefully compact consultancy and virtual agency. Unlike a traditional agency, I tailor a bespoke design team to any size or specialty, whilst I personally guide my clients every step of the way. No office or full-time employees means flexibility and lower overheads, yet my clients still get the quality and attention they deserve from passionate specialists who are always improving and developing their skills.

From a young age I liked the idea of branding, but nobody really taught me what branding actually was. I thought it was about logos and brand guidelines. I studied Graphic Communication at university and experimented across many styles and mediums. Post university, I worked in agency and in-house roles, and didn’t specialise for quite some time. Variety was something I enjoyed. I found my calling with the realisation of what branding actually meant. Branding refers to anything that influences or affects someone's actions or feelings towards your company. It is hugely broad and in-depth, and it’s my responsibility to guide my clients through that same realisation and consequently grow their brands to new heights.

With in increasingly busy workload it was my responsibility to ensure we had the resources we needed to complete work on time and to a high quality. I worked with in-house designers as well as managing external freelancers. This gave me the opportunity to not only be involved in the projects myself but also to plan, prep and organise, which is one of my favourite things to do!

I enjoyed working with our clients from the very beginning of their story, often working on all aspects of their brand including naming, logo design, positioning and strategy, web design and asset creation such as icons, illustrations or assisting with photoshoots. The variety of the role allowed me to learn so much in the creative industry, but also in business.

Surefoot was my first step into the agency side. I loved this shift, due to the multitude of projects and clients. No day was ever the same as the previous.

Heading all aspects of design within a luxury mens accessories brand. The role also included resourcing, sourcing factories, finding the best deals and ensuring sampling and manufacturing works in conjunction with our yearly plan and sales deadlines. Design aspects include branding, POS, product design such as high end leather and jewellery accessories, brochure and layout, and website. I worked closely with the sales and marketing team to develop sales material and new product ranges.

I demonstrated my professional approach and excellent communication skills to ensure customers had a relaxing experience in this 5* spa. Jobs included secretarial and admin work, bar work, waitressing and a high level of customer care.

I taught a variety of ages, which demanded an adaptable teaching style and also much patience. I continue to use and develop these skills now within the design industry. Most of my pupils learnt for recreation, but I took one student successfully through her Grade 1 exam.
