About Lucy Groscost
I am a recent ETSU college graduate with a degree in Media and Communication and minor in Biology. I received my B.S. degree to not only make an impact in the film industry, but in the environmental industry as well.I spent twelve years of my life surrounded by trees in a small town in Tennessee, so, while I understood the importance of forests, I had a “you’ve seen one tree, you’ve seen them all” type of mentality. However, my perspective changed when I started attending a nature-based camp called Green River Preserve back in 2012. As I stood in the center of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by beautifully dense forests, I realized that these ecosystems are special and each one is unique. Each forest has its own ecosystem, plant and animal life, and beauty. Since then, understanding the environment has become one of my biggest interests, placing me on the path of wanting to produce nature documentaries in an attempt to spread environmental awareness.Another huge passion of mine is working with children. Back in 2018 and 2019, I lifeguarded and taught swimming lessons throughout the school year before committing to becoming a full time camp counselor during the summer months, which I intend on doing again this coming May. These experiences have taught me the value of patience, communication, selflessness, maturity, multitasking, time-management, and teamwork. The growth I have gone through these past couple of years has made me the confident, informed, and understanding individual I proudly am today. As of right now I am the BucMedia Content Manager and Swim Club Vice President at ETSU, but am keeping an eye out for possible internships regarding my studies. Furthermore, alongside preparing for my future, I enjoy hiking, painting, writing poetry, and will never turn down a wholesome day of hanging out with friends.
