Director of Global Photography, The Associated Press, based in London.Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, visual editor, videographer, writer, and leader, and the first woman to serve as the AP’s Director of Global Photography. The AP has journalists in nearly 100 countries and all 50 U.S. states.I lead an exceptionally talented global team of photojournalists at the AP as they play a critical role in earning public trust with eyewitness journalism and serving readers and communities with accurate, fact-based, nonpartisan reporting. I’m passionate about developing and mentoring a diverse range of visual journalists in order to accurately reflect the societies we cover. I have a master’s degree in journalism, science and climate from Columbia University; studied international politics at Penn State; and attended the Graduate School of Journalism at City University, New York (CUNY), where I participated in a program in news innovation and leadership. I was also part of CUNY’s inaugural AI Journalism Lab to design newsroom AI tools.While at Reuters, I led the news agency’s photography in Europe, heading a team of 190 staff and freelance photographers in 50 countries. Before that, I photographed stories that included eight Olympic Games; presidential elections in Afghanistan; Hong Kong democracy protests; California wildfires and drought; U.S. political campaigns and protests; World Cup soccer; and breaking news and documentary stories all over the Americas. I was featured in an International Olympic Committee Rio 2016 video: 'One Shot. Photographing the Olympic Games.'
