As a new manager my responsibilities expanded from telling my clients' stories to helping my staff tell their clients’ stories. I identified a need for a stronger communications infrastructure to help these stories shine. I built ODEE's social media strategy and eventually our Marketing Communications Strategic Plan. I trained the organization on our new direction, and gave workshops for social media, web writing and video tutorial recording. I developed a lot of templates in this role. Templates for communications strategies, for video development, for campaign planning, and more. I wrote ODEE’s editorial stylebook, which lives alongside Ohio State’s, and I coached my colleagues on editorial style. I did this while continuing to support my own clients in the organization such as the Digital Unions and the Innovate conference. In managing my first team I learned a lot about myself and my standards for high quality messaging.

As Senior Marketing & Communications Strategist for the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE), I served in the critical role of planning, developing, and executing communications strategy and messaging for students, faculty, and staff related to ODEE services and initiatives through both traditional and social media outlets.
