This role required me to undertake a variety of Communications tasks including managing the company LinkedIn page and contributing to other social media platforms, media liaison including organising quotes and interviews for media appearances for print, TV and radio and writing media releases, articles and opinion pieces, taking photos for social media and other digital and print needs, working with videographers to create corporate videos, writing for the Annual and Social Impact reports, writing and formatting e-newsletters, coordinating and writing internal communication updates, facilitating Communications requirements for corporate partnerships, and reporting monthly results from communications’ channels and outcomes. The role also involved building and maintaining relationships at all levels of the organisation, working closely with many teams and individuals to collaborate on Communications larger team and organisation projects.

This role involved coordinating and writing all advertorial features across 13 publications and online for Community Newspaper Group and the rebranded PerthNow Local papers. I also wrote for the Real Estate and Features sections of the newspapers, including as the film and TV writer where I wrote weekly film reviews and interviewed actors, directors and other industry people for feature articles.A shift from the Community News editorial team to the Creative Services team for The West Australian saw me adding to that role with pitching and writing stories for a variety of publications including West Real Estate, Outdoor Explorer and advertising features. I had to work to multiple deadlines, write in a variety of tones and styles according to each publication and have a strong understanding of what makes a newsworthy story, as well as maintain successful working relationships with colleagues and clients.
