I am an urban designer specialising in participatory practice. My experience combines 2 decades of community organising with a knowledge of the built environment, action research methodologies, and participatory design. In 2018 I led the Open House Oxford project, a 'public talking shop on housing and homelessness' which was awarded the Meanwhile Prize by The Developer Magazine. Between 2017 and 2022 I led the Homemaker Oxford action research project which addressed how empty and underused spaces could be best used to tackle extreme housing need. In 2022, Homemaker Oxford won the Archiboo Activist Award. Both of these projects were delivered in my time at Transition by Design Cooperative. Across my work i strive for meaningful participation in the built environment from all citizens, especially those whose voices we hear less often.
