About Lucy Whitehouse

Charity founder and leader, and a journalist and editor with over ten years of experience across print and digital.I founded and run Fumble, an award winning charity that creates a happy, healthy online world of relationships & sex education: by young people, for young people. Fumble is collaborative, inclusive, safe and fun. I'm also proud to be a Trustee of The Mulberry Bush, a charity that provides residential therapeutic support for young people who have experienced trauma, as well as research, consultancy and training.Previously, I've created a digital campaign for YoungMinds, the national mental health charity for young people. I've written comment pieces for major national publications, The Observer, The New Statesman, The Independent and The Guardian, and contributed as a freelance reporter on The Metro's lifestyle desk. I've appeared live on BBC News, BBC Politics Live, Times Radio and more. I've also moderated panel discussions and interviews at national and international conferences.

    I founded and run Fumble, an award-winning sex education charity. Fumble is creating a happy, healthy online world of sex ed. We make digital content on sexual health, wellbeing and relationships. Our content is by young people, for young people. We offer non-judgemental advice and information in a way that is relevant and accessible for young people of all genders, sexualities and backgrounds. We respond to the reality that young people face growing up today, with its unprecedented challenges - particularly posed by growing up alongside the internet and smartphones.Fumble is a UK registered charity, and our work is almost entirely volunteer-led. We launched Fumble in March 2017, and gained charity status in February 2020. Registered charity number: 1188089.

    I developed and delivered a digital campaign aimed at young people for YoungMinds, the national mental health charity for young people. The campaign, #OwnYourFeed, addressed how young people can take control of their digital lives to have a more positive time online. It reached 1.25 million young people in the UK, and we estimate that over 750,000 young people made positive, tangible behaviour changes in response to the campaign.
