For about 20 years, from 1995 to 2015, I was a truck driver. For most of that time I drove for Columbia Distributing as a beverage delivery driver, servicing accounts from grocery chains to convenience stores to bars and restaurants. From 2008 to 2015 I was an owner/operator contracting with NW Container Services to haul shipping containers in the Oregon/Washington area. Over this 20 year time I logged over 750,000 (accident free!) miles. While I did enjoy my time behind the wheel, I needed a change from the harsh hours and schedule of driving. I've always liked working with computers, yet attaining a career in that field had never really seemed like an option before. In 2015 I had an opportunity to go all in and pursue it, so I did!I attended Epicodus, a coding bootcamp style school, from August 2015 through November 2105. I was fortunate to land an internship at OpenSesame, a Portland based e-Learning marketplace. I was an intern there for a little over a year. During my time there I fell in love with the people, the atmosphere, and the work. I was thrilled to accept an offer as a Junior Software Developer starting in January of 2017, and I hope to be there for a long time.
