Development of hybrid nanoparticle/polymer materials obtained by photochemistryThe aforementioned material precursors undergo spatial organization when subjected to photoirradiation. The obtained composite material displays a layered structure with interesting surface functionality (electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectiveness, antibacterial, etc.) dependent on the precursors used. Development of photocatalytic systems that answer the need of converting solar energy into biochemical energy while responding to green chemistry requirements.The designed photo-driven systems allow the synthesis of chemical reactants of industrial value while minimizing the environmental and industrial constraints from extensive use of fossil resources. The designed systems combine the use of an oxidase (Laccase) in the presence of a photosensitizer (Ruthenium polypyridyl, manganese porphyrins or salen complexes). Study on the biotransformation of sterols by Mycobacterium sp. DSM 2966/2967 for the production of high value biological products. Included microbiology techniques, bacteria growth and use/maintenance of bioreactors (Biostat Aplus (Sartorius)). Invastigation was carried on biphasic system with use of Luffa Cylindrica as an immobilisation support. Use of GC and HPLC as analytical techniques.

Development of polysulfide materials targeted toward use as sealant compounds. Studying product performance over sample aging. Analyzing formulation and end product characteristics (Viscosity, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, etc.). Formulating new products by screening methodology and collecting results.
