I worked as a substitute teacher for a stint between graduate school and my first post-grad career.

While completing my undergraduate thesis on the impacts of the marijuana industry in local communities, I spent a year managing a medical dispensary to understand how the legal system works and operates internally. This project concluded with business-cognizant policy recommendations to control for negative community impacts in the Colorado marijuana industry and was published in our university honors program. In the midst of a drastic shift in undergrad majors, I sold everything I owned and found myself in Alaska working on a glacial helicopter base. While there, I studied the Juneau Ice Field and Alaska's geography. It was an amazing, and cold, experience that provided me with the direction and clarity that pushed me through undergrad and into grad school. Experience: organizational work, customer service, aviation, safety policy, glacial education, tourism.

During college, I started a color guard and dance team to give young girls in a rural community a healthy outlet that focused on body positivity and inclusivity in my coursework - two things that I felt were really vital for growth (but elusive) as a teenager. I coached for 2.5 years and watched several young women flourish through creativity and a common passion for music and movement. This included year-round involvement in both marching band and winter guard while I was attending my first two years at Colorado Mesa University. I was also performing in the Colorado Mesa University Winter Guard during this time. I gained so many great things from this experience. I met some of my best friends. I grew a lot and learned the power of leadership through example, peer mentorship, and friendship. I also learned that everyone can teach you something if you view all relationships as worth learning from. Experience: Education, leadership, teaching, children, networking, helicopter parents.
