I am the first recipient of UCT's Uyinene Mrwetyana Scholarship, which is a scholarship awarded to female students who demonstrate a passion for social justice issues, critical thinking and academic excellence. In addition to these qualities, I am also a forward-thinking individual who thrives in challenging environments and has a thirst for knowledge. I currently hold the position of English Coordinator for TeachOut UCT and I have experience in student leadership and advocacy in my former role as Treasurer for the UCT Humanities Student Council. In addition, I have been the class representative in political studies in my first and second year. These student roles have shaped me into becoming an excellent communicator, a confident public speaker and problem-solver amidst adversity.
