The result was a comprehensive design system and tone of Voice that branded every step of Frontier's all-important customer experience.I am ultimately responsible for revenue growth, innovation, service level measurement, and growing Frontier's network reach and product strategy.Frontier operates a robust Broadband network in Canada and the United States. In each local market, we provide "local" Network to Network Interfaces (NNI's) to our wholesale carrier partners (Phone Companies, Cable Companies, Private Utility Fibre operators, Wireless Providers, etc.). For us, it is about reducing overall latency and hitting 100% of our customer-requested locations.Aside from Broadband, we have a sophisticated voice offering that many rely on when a highly "elastic" solution of 800, inbound origination or outbound termination is required. In addition, we provide DIDs in Canada and the USA with many international markets available. We have a highly reliable and affordable alternative to the old office phone system.Frontier's base consists of well-known, large national clients, and we sell directly and through an energized base of Partners, Agents and Wholesalers.When asked, we say that "we like to do traditional things in a non-traditional way."

    Our business was acquired by Cygnal Technologies! What could possibly go wrong?!As Vice President of Strategic Services, I developed our Broadband Business known as Connex. In this role, I played lead network architect and sales lead for all national requests for Broadband services, including the Internet, Security and Voice Services.I always intensely disliked the Legacy Phone System (PBX) PRI and Analogue Services business and worked diligently to disrupt it whenever possible.As Vice President - Strategic Solutions, I was responsible for global management, solicitation, and proposal development of complex customer transactions. In addition, I led a ‘tiger team’ that was responsible for integrating with Cygnal’s national sales team to energize the Cygnal value proposition within their existing prospect funnel and installed a customer base. In a way, we promoted new ideas to a group of change hesitant Account Executives who would then promote it to their highly receptive base of clients.It was a great place to develop useful employee, vendor and customer relationships.

During this time, we developed unique Public Private Partnership (P3) with a group of Utelco’s in Ontario to build and operate their Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs).

    I left on a Friday and started on a Monday.I Joined Integrated Cable Systems (ICS) because I wanted to be part of this whole 'Internet' thing that was going on. The absolute truth was that a friend was a recruiter and wanted the placement fee. I got the "do you want to be a small fish in a big pond lecture." So, off I went.In this role, I worked in a close-knit team to convince a group of hydro utilities in Ontario to enter into the telecom business. We were selling Ethernet Access when the Telco's were still selling phone lines and narrowband circuits.As an Account Executive for ICS, I was responsible primarily for customer-facing sales and marketing to support our UTELCO Broadband Undertaking. In addition, my role was to act as the outsourced sales and marketing representative to ICS' Utility Clients who did not have their own sales team.Our mighty team sold and built out over $50,000,000 of broadband infrastructure during this brief period and subsequently booked over $130,000,000 of bandwidth contracts at book value.In the years to follow, most of our hydro clients divested these assets for a market value that exceeded $500 million. This part of the story sucks a bit!Many of the clients from this period are with me today.

    It was my first gig after graduation. It was a tight job market at the time, and it saved me from a career in accounting! I Joined FDM4 International Inc. (it was renamed to this some time ago) to prospect, quote and close deals for its proprietary Distribution and ERP software solution into the Wholesale Distribution, Manufacturing MRP/MRPII marketplace. I noticed a movement towards UNIX-based' open systems', Relational Database / 4GL and client-server technologies. With this insight, I worked quickly with my President to develop an initiative that led to the license and technology acquisition of a software division and a relationship with Progress Software Corporation. Within one year, we had re-launched a new generation of software solutions under the FDM4 Brand, which became the company's entire vision and focus.We built out a focused reseller channel which helped us leverage our 'outside of Canada' sales footprint.We led the early adoption of Web, eCommerce, and other digital methodologies to promote our product and services during this period.Much of what we did then is what today we call 'Cloud' and Software as a Service or 'SaaS.'It was fantastic - and then the recruiter called.
