My journey in tech has been a wild one! From grade school STEM programs to a green engineering high school program. I have been preparing to enter this exciting world of technology. When I was In the engineering program I was introduced the terminal, linux and C to program robots. Although I couldn’t finish my high school experience due to family issues and a big move to a new country, my curiosity and knowledge stayed with me. Once I was old enough to move back to the US I found myself continuing on my tech journey. Working full time and going to school to finish my diploma was hard. It wasn’t until 2021 when I endured a pretty bad motorcycle accident where I had a chance to really analyze my life. While recovering I remembered my days in high school and I really wanted to get back to learning tech. I finished up my credits and signed up for Google’s IT support specialist program and this is where decided to get lost in the rabbit hole that is technology. A unit in the program that focused on system administration and automation and some raspberry PIs I bought to practice really sparked interested in me and I wanted to learn to automate more things on my raspberry PIs. I signed up to learn Python with yet again another Google course. Once I passed this course I was hungry for more! Next up was a course on ML, AI and web development taught by IBM and I bit more than I can chew with this course I passed the course without knowing the crucial aspects of Software Development. By this time I had recovered from the accident and I was starting amazon. I was soon eligible to take part in a program that pays for tuition and jumping on this I signed up for Merit America’s Java Development program. This 6 month intensive program taught me Java and back end technologies like database and frameworks. After graduation I had a sudden realization that all the things I learned with python and IBMs web development finally made sense topics such as OOP and APIs were clear. Now armed with IT expertise and knowledge in 2 languages and Development. I sought out to get into software development and ever since then I have been consistently learning new things like CI/CD and cloud . Just recently I was invited to be a software engineer for JPMorgan, how cool is that!! I hope my growth keeps being exponential like this and I hit my end goal of being a DevOps Engineer!
