In the context of the CFD Chimera method developped at ONERA, my tasks include the implementation of a new optimization algorithm of overlapping meshes and its validation through different CFD test cases. The implementation of this technique is made through the pre and post-processing code CASSIOPEE. Therefore, I put in practise programming skills mainly in C++ and Python languages.

This internship consisted on the aerodynamic simulation of the loiter flight condition of the new version of the K50 UAV. Modern Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques were used, such as parallelized unstructured Finite Volume codes. The analysis of the laminar-to-turbulent boundary layer transition has been adressed by means of the RANS turbulence model k-kl-ω. As a result of this internship, the optimum loiter condition of the aircraft was found, as well as its corresponding aerodynamic coefficients and stability and control derivatives.
