• Executed datalogger programming and wiring and assisted in sensors (vibrating wires, relative humidity sensors, and thermocouples) installation for the project SHRP 2 R21 Composite Pavement Systems at the Minnesota Road Research Project (MnROAD).• Investigated the primary causes of premature deterioration of JPCP in Pennsylvania, including the analysis of FWD data, historic distress data, concrete fundamental properties, concrete petrography, construction practices, and design deficiencies. Used the following tools as part of the investigation: MEPDG, HIPERPAV and FEM. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) research project. Premature deterioration of Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements (JPCP).• Analyzed distress prediction models of the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) for JPCP and Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements (CRCP). Wrote extensive parts of the final report. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) research project.• Studied and analyzed the use of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) data for pavement rehabilitation in the MEPDG. Wrote extensive parts of the final report. FHWA research project.• Assisted in the development and installation of data acquisition system capable of collecting embedded highway sensor data for over 80 sensors measuring temperature, and strain for four rigid pavement projects. Assisted in programming and wiring of datalogger equipment. PennDOT research project for the establishment of appropriate inputs using the MEPDG in Pennsylvania.• Executed laboratory concrete material characterization determining material properties such as elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio, flexural strength, coefficient of thermal expansion, drying shrinkage, and compressive strength. Project: Construction of two concrete vehicular bridges over “Juan Amarillo” river in Bogota, Colombia.• Controlled and directed the following activities: - Construction of pavement structure on the bridges approaches, from excavation to the laying of the asphalt mixture.- Earthwork, ground improvement, excavation and fillings.- Piling (pile h= 170 ft), footings, columns, and header beams.- Installation of a waste-water pipeline L= 328 ft, D= 36”, in Glass Reinforced Pipe (GRP).- Construction of the armed earth walls which belong to the retaining walls of the bridges approaches.• Executed progress reports and managed progress payments.• Controlled the project schedule.• Executed unit cost estimates of activities not contemplated in the design phase.

Project: Adjustment of the “Americas” avenue to the “Transmilenio” transportation system in Bogota, Colombia.• Controlled and directed the following activities: - Construction of the subbase and base for flexible and rigid pavement (JPCP).- Earthwork and demolition.- Installation of aqueduct pipeline D=16” and 12” in CCP (Concrete Cylinder Pipe), including valves and control devices.- Installation of 13,000 yd of electrical and telephonic pipelines.- Civil works for the traffic lights system on seven vehicular intersections.- Erection of a steel Bailey bridge, including the construction of concrete foundation and horizontal support elements, in addition to the construction of the bridge approaches in flexible pavement.• Executed progress reports and managed progress payments.• Executed unit cost estimates of activities not contemplated in the design phase.• Controlled the execution of the “as built” drawings for the project.
