Fundecor, short for the Foundation for the Development of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting sustainable natural resource management in the rural north-eastern zone of Costa Rica. Fundecor designs innovative financial mechanisms that enable private forest landowners to diversify their income sources, with the overarching goal of reconciling forest conservation with inclusive socio-economic development. The institution operates with an integral approach, managing various programs including Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, water fund creation (Agua Tica), and support for local entrepreneurship.Responsibilities & Achievements:- Organizing and preparing the Sinergia Business Forum 2023, where I assisted entrepreneurs in pitching their projects to potential investors, partners, customers, and the press- Conducting research on the European market's interest in certified tropical wood- Exploring the potential of digital Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) for conservation funding- Developing and conducting an orientation strategy workshop for the Biological Corridor San Juan La Selva, using the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework- Participating in fieldwork with the team and engaging with local entrepreneurs implementing Blue Economy initiativesKey Skills Developed:- Project organization and event planning- Market research and analysis- Strategic workshop facilitation- Understanding the nexus between entrepreneurship and conservation in the context of Blue Economy initiatives
