With over 35 years of experience in teaching and research, I am an associate professor at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department of Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (PUC). I hold a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and a Civil Engineering Degree from PUC. I am a founding member of the Global Change Center at PUC (https://cambioglobal.uc.cl), and the Director of GreenLab (https://www.dictuc.cl/unidades/greenlab/) , the Environmental Management and Policy Unit of DICTUC that provides high-quality analysis for government agencies and private companies.My mission is to address complex societal problems that have a strong technical component, such as air pollution, climate change, sustainable development, and natural disasters. I use the tools from engineering, economics, public policy, risk analysis, and social psychology, to understand, formulate, and help manage these challenges. Through my teaching, research, and consulting, I aim to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the improvement of society.
