Supporting a national domestic transportation network using both ground and air providers to ensure uninterrupted service to SCI Transportation clients. Using various computer programs, the Transportation Operations Specialist monitors critical shipments and as required, develops and implements contingency plans in conjunction with vendors and customers.

Oversee the planning, scheduling, and confirmation of services to achieve client and customer commitments. Interact with client, transportation vendors and internal parties to ensure activities are being completed according to client's expectations. Assist as needed in troubleshooting issues involving weather delays, freight discrepancies and damages.

Responsibilities lay in taking down customer’s LTL requests and dispatching the nearest vehicle to their location. Would also organize trailer switches for full load trailer requests from Midland’s Concord terminal. Would track the progress of multiple drivers of Midland’s fleet using AS400 program. Furthermore, was also required to prep and code bills for the transport of goods throughout Canada and the US.

Tasks included taking and dispatching orders for clients, as well providing the client up-to-the-minute information on their shipments. In addition, would monitor the progress of drivers on multiple routes by using QTRACS, PC Miler and company’s control board. Was also required to handle the USA driver’s paperwork and border clearance in regards to their in-bound and out-bound trips.

Took in a multiple of phone calls in regards to sending guard coverage to high priority alarm situations in the GTA, and the majority of Canada. Operated the 2-way radio to assign mobile guards to immediate assignments, for alarm calls within the GTA. Was responsible for client services, recording patrol times, manning the switchboard and using various software for dispatching, organizing and scheduling guards for financial and commercial sites.
