I lead the Technology & Innovation team that involves discovering, designing, building and delivering Quibim products including Quibim's Medical Devices like QP-Prostate or QP-Brain and Quibim's medical imaging data management and analytic platform.As CTO at Quibim my mission is to ensure our products are scalable with our customer's needs both in healthcare clinical routine and research and to contribute to find opportunities to improve and spread our products with new integrations with customers, providers and partners.Technology & Innovation is a multidisciplinar team involving ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Full Stack and Cloud Engineers, Product Managers and Designers.

As the CTO at Sketch my mission was to build a professional and robust Technology team, set a common technical direction, speed up development, raise quality and help the company and the product to keep competitive through better technology. I led a multidisciplinary team of 100 engineers.I influenced the product roadmap with tech-driven key projects like a new document web renderer, a complete revamp of the payments platform, or the open-source version of the fig2sketch converter, among others. I created a consistent technical vision spreading it year after year through detailed team goals and roadmaps. A key part of the long-term plan was to deliver to our customers a faster, smoother and more consistent experience between desktop and cloud products. It involved multiple improvements, new technologies and key projects like, for example, live collaborative editing, database model simplifications, document web rendering, simpler data ingestion pipelines from desktop to cloud.In order to speed up development, increase the general quality of core parts of the product and reduce the bus factor, I designed and implemented a complete product/technology re-organization. This allowed us to eliminate multiple blockers that we found in the day-to-day and to have predictable delivery from fundamental product areas in the company. We raised the development process quality, as well, through improved code reviews, internal RFCs, better architecture analysis and product definition.To guarantee the right focus on those product areas, the tech team had to grow considerably over a couple of years. We built a consistent hiring process across all roles in tech and managed to hire efficiently and effectively.Together with the Customer Support team, we built a bridge between tech and CS teams to streamline and simplify our issues prioritization process, resulting in better releases and better and faster responses to our customers.

As the Director of Engineering at Carto, one of my goals was to improve the product/technology development process. Together with Product, I introduced timeboxed cycles and, as result, we managed to have more consistent delivery after every cycle.In order to adapt to company goals I did some organisational changes in the 30 people Engineering team, resulting in some teams merging and slight changes in responsibilities.I also created a career framework for the technology team that allowed managers and ICs to understand better their current skills and how to improve contributions in the future.

As the Head of Infrastructure, I led an 8 engineers team. I designed plans to reduce infrastructure costs, through different optimizations in the platform and internal processes of the company. In 2018 we managed to reduce 50% of the total recurrent platform costs.I proposed, designed, and coordinated the efforts to build a database-layer platform to, not only contribute to reducing costs but also to be able to have a more elastic DB-layer performance and storage. The project made it possible for customers to have performance peaks when needed, as well as live data storage resizing without service disruption. This was engineered to reduce dramatically, as well, the operational load related to database upgrades.

As the SRE lead, my main goal was to build together with the rest of the folks a high-performance, reliable platform for geospatial data visualization and analysis. With millions of requests and queries per day, more than a thousand databases and hundreds of thousands of active users, at the Infrastructure team we automated both cloud and on-premises platforms with different layers of tech stacks and cache for maximum performance. We performed multiple migrations plans over the years, always aiming to eliminate any noticeable disruptions to users, no matter their data size or rate of requests. Automation, performance, data accuracy and reliability were always our core values.

Automated the provision, configuration, and deployment of Fintonic infrastructure, including HA and backups.

In collaboration with the agencies e21 and Novacentro of Porto Alegre I built, maintained, and hosted the Sport Club Internacional centenary commemoration site based on Ruby on Rails, MySQL and JQuery.In 2008, e21 received a Brazilian communications award (https://colunistas.com.br) for the definition, design, implementation, and management of the website.In 2009, the website received for the second year the same award, this time under Novacentro direction.

Worked as a freelancer on different small/medium-sized projects involving coding with C, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Perl, Javascript, etc.. as well as some databases and Linux-based system administration tasks.

Researched, implemented and documented (in Portuguese and Spanish) authentication and authorization interoperability methods between Linux and Windows with OpenLDAP, Kerberos and Active Directory. This was the first phase of the project NDOS-BR for Microsoft Brasil.
