The MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (MIT REAP) provides opportunities for communities around the world to engage with MIT in an evidence-based, practical approach to strengthening innovation-driven entrepreneurial (IDE) ecosystems.The Dominican Republic's MIT REAP effort is a nationwide partnership with MIT's Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP). This effort is focused on understanding the Dominican Republic's local entrepreneurial ecosystem with the end goal of creating an environment where innovation-driven entrepreneurship startups and R&D can thrive. As team Co-Champion, I serve as a primary liaison between the Dominican team (including members from the Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Mipymes (MICM), Gabinete de Innovación del Ministerio de la Presidencia (MINPRE), Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago (UTESA), Instituto Nacional de Formación Técnico Profesional (INFOTEP), Microsoft, Ministerio de Educación Superior, Ciencia y Tecnología (MESCYT),  Oficina Gubernamental para Tecnologías de la Información (OGTIC)) and the MIT REAP faculty.

Founded in 1974, UTESA is the largest private, coeducational university in the Dominican Republic, with its main campus in Santiago de los Caballeros. With over 60k students, UTESA offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering, Medicine, and Business Administration, among others. Some of the projects I am involved in: • Higher Education Partnership (USAID): to develop innovative and sustainable partnerships with Higher Education Institutions in the Dominican Republic to strengthen the effectiveness of institutional programs and services aimed at youth from high-risk environments. These partnerships promote a pathway to higher education, thereby increasing opportunities for access to decent work and social welfare• Design and launch of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MIT REAP)• Design, plan, and execution of a data-driven unit for the Office of the Chancellor• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual strategy for the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Course DescriptionCreating new businesses, capturing new markets, and enhancing organizational effectiveness occur through improving productivity or innovation, or both. New discoveries, new technologies, competition, and globalization compel both entrepreneurs and existing firms to foster innovation and agility. This course examines the theory and practice of promoting and managing innovation in start-ups and existing firms. It explores successful frameworks, strategies, funding techniques, business models, risks, and barriers for introducing break-through products and services. Topics include business model innovation, design-driven innovation, leadership, strategy, information technology, knowledge management, process improvement, performance measurement, and change management.GoalsStudents will develop skills for evaluating, articulating, refining, and pitching a new product or service offering, either as a start-up business or a new initiative within an existing firm. This course is appropriate for all students interested in innovation and design as necessary components of new businesses today.

•Analysis of key macroeconomic indicators to aid in the supervision role of the Superintendence.•Evaluation of the information gathered through workshops and surveys, business process description and task analysis for the financial system.•Collaboration in the implementation of the Risk Based Supervision Model of Banking Supervision. •Monthly financial reports of credit, market, liquidity and operational risk indicators.•Acting as an interface between business units, the Risk Departments and the Office of the Superintendent in the developing of key research proposals.•Monitored the updates of the financial system’s key indicators for the purposes of analyzing better supervisory techniques to avoid banking crises.

Rooted in the reality of common humanity and the shared existence of all peoples, OYW aims to connect and bring together the youngest, brightest, and best to ensure that their concerns, opinions and solutions are heard. The 2010 Inaugural Summit in London drew 823 young leaders from 112 countries and the 2011 Summit in Zurich had nearly 1300 young leaders from 170 nations. Plenary sessions focused on key resolutions based upon the world’s most pressing issues: environment, global health, media, leadership, interfaith dialogue, and global business. Counsellors such as Kofi Annan, Bob Geldof, Muhammad Yunus, Desmond Tutu, Jamie Oliver, John Kerry, Donna Karan, Wyclef Jean, HKH Prince and Pricess of Norway, Joss Stone, Wael Ghonim, and many other noted leaders facilitated debate and dialogue between delegates and a global audience. Participation in decision-making is one of the key priority areas of the United Nations agenda on youth. One form of youth participation at the United Nations is through the inclusion of youth delegates in a country’s official delegation to the United Nations General Assembly and various functional Commissions of the Economic and Social Council.The youth delegate program is coordinated by the Focal Point on Youth at the global level, but it is the responsibility of the Member States to establish a youth delegate program at the national level, and to decide who will represent the young people of their country.The roles of a youth representative varies from country to country, but normally includes providing input to their delegation on issues related to youth and participate in their delegation’s general work through attending meetings and informal negotiations.Program aims to:-Enhance awareness of the global situation of youth and to increase recognition of their rights and aspirations;-Promote national youth policies, programs and coordinating mechanisms as integral parts of social and economic development, in cooperation with both governmental and non-governmental organizations;-Strengthen the participation of youth in decision-making processes at all levels in order to increasetheir contribution to national development and international cooperation;-Facilitate the coordination of the UN system’s youth-related activities by leading the Inter-AgencyNetwork on Youth Development.More information: http://undesadspd.org/Youth/OurWork/Youthdelegateprogramme.aspx
