Our research focused on epilepsy, neuroplasticity, and stem cell replacement therapy for temporal lobe epilepsy. We aimed to understand at a mechanistic level, how neurodegenerative changes, axonal sprouting, and aberrant neurogenesis contribute to epileptogenesis and spontaneous seizures in temporal lobe epilepsy.• Performed immunofluorescent staining in brain sections, confocal microscopy, tissue culture (primarily astrocyte cultures), electroencephalographic recordings, tissue extraction surgeries, western blotting, and a suite of behavioral tests in mice.• Used GraphPad Prism and Excel to perform statistical analyses of collected data and to produce figures for publication.• Collaborated with fellow lab members, both undergraduates and Ph.D students in executing and designing experiments.• Read and discussed primary literature.
