About Luis A.

I have made a career out of thriving when faced with technologies and industries that are unfamiliar to me. My passion lies in developing products that create positive change in people's lives.I started as phone internet tech support just before leaving high school, with less than 2 years of English speaking experience. In college I was the only Mac OS System Administrator and support at the University of Utah Health Sciences Library, despite never previously owning or working on a Mac. My first introduction to the medical field was providing assistance to patients, physicians, and students at the library and school of medicine. After a short internship as a knee engineer, I was hired to design hip implants. Within a year from graduation, I designed an entire hip implant system from the ground up. The instrumentation designed was unique to this system and has been replicated by others in the industry. As Product Manager for knee systems, with no training or experience as a Product Manager, I was responsible for all knee product line marketing activities, from downstream tasks such as training, collaterals, and field support, to product launch strategy, and internal support for Operations and R&D.With no prior experience in SW development, active implants, neuromodulation, or pain management, I am now the main product manager for the only SCS device at BIOTRONIK. I work closely with multinational R&D teams to guide them in the development of the next generation of connected SCS implants.
