I consulted at ITW Traulsen, which together with Hobart and Baxter is a member of the ITW Food Equipment Group (ITW), an American collection of leading food service equipment manufacturers for commercial kitchen products.In this project the goal was to help ITW transition some of its parts from metal to plastic. I structured a complete material research process involving selection, prototyping and testing for ITW specific applications (refrigeration and hot food units).

I support the CTO at an asian manufacturer and distributor of compressors, advising on technology roadmap and product strategy. I work towards the overall improvement of the manufacturing line and designing new, better products. We conducted all product development and implementation projects using the SCRUM methodology and I trained the manufacturing and designing teams on product development best practices. Main results:- 25% time reduction on product development cycle due to the implementation of better prototyping techniques- 12% cost reduction and significant performance improvement for the noise attenuator (over-molding patent pending)- 6% cost reduction for cast-iron bearings and multi-material environment internal lubrication improvement due to oil replacement project - Managed back-to-back plastic enclosures and attenuators projects: from material selection, to product design, and supplier homologation- Developed a new plastic injection tools supplier in China, increasing the cavities number by 100% while keeping the same initial tool price

Spearheaded product design and material selection for injection and extruded parts. Achieved a -75% volume reduction by switching stainless steel parts for polymer ones, significantly impacting costs. Expressively reduced labor costs, improving profits, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

I consulted at Asperbrás, a Brazilian multinational company in the segments of PVC pipes, fittings, accessories, and frames.Developed rigid PVC alternative stabilization for applications in pipes and fittings. Cost reduction and product development management optimization. Stabilization package cost reduction of 25% per formula. Developed the concept for the PVC stabilizers components mixing pilot plant

Managed an experienced team of 25 people in total, nine experienced directs (one being a color coordinator); responsible for understanding value chain, identifying opportunities and shaping Masterbatch specifications throughout plastics segments; in charge of strengthening partnerships with suppliers (Aditya-Birla, BASF, Braskem, Cabot, Crystal, Omya, Songwon, among others) based on efficient networking and open innovation; result-driven interface with different departments aiming to generate value to the business; established a strong partnership with Universities of São Paulo (UFSCar and USP) for collaborative projects; responsible for budget planning, cost controlling and investments management; simultaneously managed several projects in order to determine the department’s strategy based on product profit segment and performance optimization; reviewed and managed the company’s portfolio, while designing products according to affordable costs, regulatory and performance demands; set a development schedule according to strategic priorities, making sense of new markets and connecting them to technological innovation.For main results please send me a message.

Responsible for plastic materials new designs for compressors parts following critical to quality concepts required by Tecumseh’s sites worldwide (USA, India, France and Brazil); plastic parts design analyses and review, targeting cost reduction; worldwide search for new plastic raw materials according production and application needs and costs; participated in many negotiation sessions with suppliers in order to procure low cost raw materials; developed and managed projects with suppliers in a collaborative environment in search of better solutions.For main results please send me a message.

Holistically managed several plastic-related automotive projects, from quotation and design to production and disposal; worked as PMO, developing detailed timelines with key milestones and deliverables for several projects; managed several product’s life-cycle; led multifunctional teams involving employees from design, procurement, tool shop, processing and quality departments; developed and managed plastic parts projects covered by Siemens VDO policy.

Managed a multi-functional team of material engineers and technicians to elaborate a budget for lab expenses; coordinating lab routine tasks; developing customer solutions regarding material and products of all market segments; product evaluation; field failure analyses and problem solving; material identification via technical analyses (infrared, HPLC, thermal analyses, dynamical mechanical analyses, rheology, microscopic and mechanical analyses).

Implemented new materials technologies (Noryl, Valox, Lexan, Xenoy, etc.) at GE Plastics Brazil and its customers from GE Plastics worldwide (USA, Japan, Netherlands, etc.); processing optimization and try-outs of plastic parts at customers (Volkswagen, Fiat, GM, etc.); information exchange among different GE sites aiming to manufacture products and research raw materials in Brazil which matched all characteristics of the imported ones; performed several customer-related processing such as blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, etc.; developed deep knowledge of tween screw and experience with polymer blends – screw design and processing.
