The undergraduate assistant will be responsible for some of the planning, programming, and staffing of SLD signature events. Applicants should have an interest in pursuing a career in Student Affairs. Student selected should apply for NUFP (NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program) if eligible. Should be able to work during activity hour on Tuesdays/Thursdays. Work with the SLD Coordinator and other departments to plan Freshmen Meet Ups three times a semester.● Plan Days of Services (1 per month) and weekly game nights● Assist with the coordination of programming for major university events including Welcome Weeks,Campus Connect, Fall into Fun, NEIU Weekend, Diversity Week and Senior Week.● Create monthly updates to the SLD bulletin boards that promote the various programs and initiatives.● Manage SLD social media pages● Develop communication with the campus community to publicize and promote SLD programs/events● Assist SLD assessment and strategic planning efforts● Participate in weekly staff meetings● Complete special projects or other duties as assigned

The First-Year Experience (FYE) program at NEIU is dedicated to providing incoming freshmen with the skills, tools and knowledge to support their transition into college. We value building a strong foundation for first year students so they can be successful.The FYE program is designed to help Freshman transition into the intellectual, cultural and social community of NEIU. We do this through FYE classes, Peer Mentor support, and co-curricular opportunities. We are successful NEIU students, hired as student aides, to help freshman navigate college life. We are trained in coaching college readiness skills and connect freshmen to the many resources NEIU offers.
