Luís Maia is the Director of Business Development at the collaborative laboratory (CoLAB) 4LifeLab.This role entails securing funding for new projects and activities, developing and implementing business development strategies, including identifying new business opportunities, and exploring possible collaborative partnerships with other entities, among other things, with the overarching goal of contributing to the growth and sustainability of the CoLAB.

Luís Maia was a Senior Consultant at ANI, where he acted as the Portuguese Delegate and National Contact Point (NCP) for the Horizon Europe Programme for Cluster 5: Climate, Energy and Mobility.This entailed, among other things, representing Portugal in committee meetings in Brussels, managing European projects, organizing events to disseminate the Horizon Europe Programme, supporting Portuguese stakeholders participating in Horizon Europe and fostering the networking between all stakeholders involved in the development of R&D in the areas of climate, energy and mobility.

Luís Maia was the Portuguese Delegate and National Contact Point (NCP) for the Horizon 2020 Programme in the areas of Transport, Aviation and Energy, being responsible for Societal Challenge 4 – “Smart, Green and Integrated Transport”, Societal Challenge 3 – “Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy” and for the Clean Sky, SESAR, Shift2Rail and FCH-JU Joint Undertakings.This entailed, among other things, representing Portugal in committee meetings in Brussels, organizing events to disseminate the H2020 Programme, supporting Portuguese stakeholders participating in Horizon 2020 and fostering the networking between all stakeholders involved in the development of R&D in the areas of transport, aviation and energy.

National Contact Point (NCP) and National Expert in the areas of Transport and Aviation: - Societal Challenge 4 – “Smart, Green and Integrated Transport”; - Clean Sky Joint Technology Initiative (JTI); - SESAR JTI; - Shift2Rail JTI.

Luis was a consultant at SPI, participating in national and international projects in the areas of innovation, R&D, entrepreneurship, transportation, strategic planning and regional development.Luis developed activities related to the preparation of proposals and project management in the scope of Portuguese and European programmes.

Project Experience:Leicester and Leicestershire Integrated Transport Model (LLITM 2014 Base) – Luis reviewed and audited an existing SATURN highway network, updating as required, part of a large model update task. Part of this task involved the development of a standard coding manual which ensured consistency in coding standards.Luis also developed a large database of traffic counts, taking raw long-term traffic count data and processing into a validated and consistent dataset for use in model development. This was performed using Visual Basic, MS Access and GIS software.Sharjah Transport Master Plan - Luis worked on the demand model development, more specifically on testing and proofing the household survey data. MS Excel was used to analyse the data in order to check if there were errors and inconsistencies in the results of the survey.

Luis worked for a few months at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, developing research in the area of transport.

Luis worked at GEG as an intern, designing civil civil engineering projects, mainly in the area of road infrastructure.
