After 2 years I came back to work with one of the largest franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the US. This time the goal was to assist with their platform expansion to other countries. My responsibility was to lead a team that was analyzing and building an integration strategy with a third party solution, which was required to enable the platform expansion. The team did not only built the strategy but also worked on integrating the existing platform with this third party solution. In parallel I also provided a technical and leadership support to other teams and worked closely with the client on strategic initiatives. In 2021, I have accepted the challenge to work for 7 months as an interim portfolio technology director within Thoughtworks. The goal was to assisting all the different teams to solve client's most ambitious missions and deliver high value solutions through agile engineering, distributed teams best practices and the most talented technologists

Helped build and execute a digital platform strategy for one of the largest franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the US. The platform was built on the industry standard for modern engineering practices and was an executable representation of the client core business capabilities, which enabled a rapid omnichannel development of user-facing applications. As part of this engagement I have worked as a Technical Leader for the web team, which rebuilt and maintained the web flow responsible for driving acquisitions, and the service team, which built from scratch the platform that was consumed by different channels and used by couple million users. During this time I also helped assembling the SRE principles and practices within the client organization which helped creating a highly reliable and scalable system.The main technologies used were Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Amazon SQS, PostgresSQL, Kinesis, DataDog, CircleCI, PagerDuty, JavaScript, NodeJS, React, Cypress and Pact.Assisted on the digital transformation for a US based financial services company. The goal was to build an enterprise alignment on the organization’s digital aspirations and define a roadmap with the right  levels of technology investment and capability to deliver on the company’s business outcomes. My role in this client was to lead a team that was focused on modernizing the product and associated technologies. The main technologies involved were Java, Spring Boot, Spring Web Flow, JQuery and Azure DevOps.

During this whole time I have worked with one of the largest retail companies in the US with the goal to replace their existing point of sales with a new mobile solution that would enable their growth. Initially a hybrid mobile application was created using Angular and Objective-C. However as the product evolved, there was a need to change the technologies in order to achieve a performance improvement. So the whole app was rewritten to be a native application in Swift and the business logic was moved to micro services written in Java. This project also gave me the opportunity to work with different message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ and IBM® MQ. This project was huge. There were almost 100 developers from different regions (US, India, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile) divided into squads. All of them working within the same codebase and sharing the release process. In my humble opinion one of the biggest challenges I had was associated with the coordination of the work from all those different teams and team enablement.During this engagement I had the opportunity to start performing the Technical Lead role and spent around 9 months co-located with our client in the US. In addition to the developer responsibilities my main contribution during this time was associated with the coordination of the delivery from those different teams ensuring that good practices were followed.

As a consultant developer I've worked in multiple US based agile projects, with mobile, backend and frontend technologies.  A common denominator between them was the focus on writing testable code and applying principles like pair programming, test driven development, continuous integration and continuous delivery. One of those projects was associated with the education domain. Together with our client, a NY based startup, we built an Android tablet based platform designed for real-time collaboration between teachers and students. The main technologies involved in this engagement were Android and Ruby.Another project was a partnership with the global organization Partners In Health, where I worked as a developer and helped build an Electronic Medical Record system. This project was launched with the goal of helping more than hundred users for a population of over 3 million patients from central and north areas of Haiti to deliver healthcare in a faster and more effective manner, avoiding a lot of paperwork. The main technologies were Java, Angular, JQuery and Puppet.The other projects that I have worked during this time were for one of the largest multi-brand retail company in the US. Most of the work was associated with the enablement of continuous delivery and with the development of a hybrid application used as a next generation of a point of sales. In parallel to those projects, I have I acted as a technical mentor helping students to improve their technical skills in a program called Aceleradora Ágil. The program was created in a partnership between ThoughtWorks, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul and Microsoft Innovation Center. It is an innovative project aimed to help students to develop their soft, tech, business and governance skills, in order to work in high performance teams.
