Dr Luiz Bortolan Neto MIEAust has more than 15 years of experience applying computational tools to solve and optimise structural engineering problems, developing advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Machine Learning, and proficient in computer programming (C, Python). Luiz joined the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) in April 2016 as a Structural Materials Engineer. His current activities centre on the application of computational and mathematical methods to solve complex engineering problems relevant to the defence and energy industries – particularly those related to high strain rate events and high-temperature creep and creep-fatigue. Luiz has a strong collaborative record with other organisations and has published more than 20 papers in international journals and conferences. He also volunteers his expertise both as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and as an Office Bearer at Engineers Australia’s National Committee of Applied Mechanics (NCAM).
