During this fellowship, Lujain co-authored a study examining the political connotations of food and resistance, with a specific focus on social mobility in Egypt and Tunisia. Lujain also authored a research study exploring the narratives of victory and defeat among Egyptian feminists who faced religious fundamentalism. This project was part of a broader effort to decolonize modern understandings and provide an alternative lens through which to view social issues, inspired by the literature of Fatima Al-Mernissi.The fellowship provided Lujain with a platform to engage deeply with various research themes, including anthropology, urban violence, political science, and social movements in the MENA region.
