Luk Van Eylen is onafhankelijk bestuurder bij Emmaüs vzw. Emmaüs is een gezondheids- en zorgorganisatie met ruim 7.500 personeelsleden. Onder de koepel van Emmaüs zitten algemene ziekenhuizen, psychiatrische ziekenhuizen, psychiatrische verzorgingstehuizen, woonzorgcentra, kinderdagverblijven, voorzieningen voor jeugdhulp, voor personen met een beperking, zorggroepen voor geestelijke gezondheidszorg, .... Luk Van Eylen was General Manager Corporate Public Affairs at KBC from March 1, 2011 until September 1, 2024.Luk was in charge of external and governmental affairs. He established and maintained external relationships with political actors as well as directly with policy makers such as Cabinets and he advocated KBC’s position within representative bodies. Following the financial crisis Luk was in charge of the relationship between KBC and the European Commission with regard to the successful implementation of KBC’s European restructuring plan.During the crisis years between 2008 and 2011, he served two Belgian Prime Ministers (Herman Van Rompuy and Yves Leterme) as financial advisor. As such he was closely involved in the government interventions for (BNP Paribas) Fortis, Dexia, Ethias, Gemeentelijke Holding (the financial cooperative of Belgian local authorities), KBC and Kaupthing. Before he was asked to join KBC, Luk had briefly been Chief of Staff of Carl Devlies, State Secretary for Coordination of Fraud Prevention.After his graduation in 1987 Luk started his career at the international department of BACOB Bank. Within eight years he had become responsible for all subsidiaries of the bank in Belgium and abroad. He then made a career switch and moved on to journalism to pursue his childhood’s dream. He has been a reporter at the Economic Desk as well as the Political Desk at De Standaard, a leading Belgian daily. In 2004, he joined the Belgian Banking and Insurance Supervisor, now known as FSMA, where he was Secretary to the Board and Spokesman. Luk holds a Master of Law from the University of Leuven (Belgium). He is married and has two sons and a grandchild.
