About Luka Lukić
With expertise in machine learning, deep learning, perception, and autonomous driving, a passion for advancing technology, and a relentless drive to create safer, more efficient vehicles, I bring a unique combination of technical savvy and entrepreneurial spirit to every project. With an upbeat and optimistic outlook, I aim to inspire teams to push boundaries and think creatively, always striving for excellence and making the impossible possible. I hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and the Technical University of Lisbon (IST). Starting in 2015, I had been for 6.5 years with Hyundai Mobis (part of the Hyundai Motor Group; one of the largest car Tier-1s suppliers in the world), developing perception solutions (cameras, LiDAR and imaging radar) for various production and advanced ADAS/AD R&D projects, holding a range of roles from a senior perception engineer (first position), team lead, to a department head (last position). In 2022, I was with HERE Technologies, the world's leading company in mapping and location services, where I was appointed as a senior principal architect for CV/ML/DL, contributing to the development of a next-generation, highly automated mapping system UniMap that revolutionizes how maps are created, updated and used. UniMap was named one of Gartner's Top 5 Auto Innovations at CES 2023.
