• Developed novel methodological and clinical insights of contact heat evoked potentials (CHEP), an electroencephalography (EEG) based outcome to assess pain responsiveness in humans. First, determined stimulus requirements of CHEPs to detect peripheral sensitization in humans. Second, verified the physiological relevance of differing CHEPs outcomes, via data mining. Third, demonstrated pain-related gamma band oscillations, a so-called neural correlate of pain perception, are dependent on stimulus type rather than pain perception.
