Boozhoo/Hola/Greetings! My name is Lukas Maximiliano Soto, and I am a proud Chilean/Mapuche, and Ojibwe descendant. I grew up in the occupied lands of the Chinook, Kalapuya, Clackamas, and Atfalati tribes, also known as Portland, Oregon. For the last several years I have been an active organizer, activist, and advocate in my community, working at the intersection of race, gender, and class. After overcoming a lifetime of adversity, and injustice, I found my home in the fight for queer, black, brown, and Indigenous liberation. My life has been dedicated to eradicating the harms of Whiteness through education, community building, storytelling, and love. My personal ethos is rooted in ancestral healing and connection, love for all walks of life, the ability to connect through difference, and my dedication to protect the next 7 generations. Professionally I have worked in many sectors of the community, spanning from higher ed, to healthcare, and government. After spending many years in the service industry, I chose to return to college and pursue a career in Therapeutic Horticulture. Since then, my life has taken many twists, and turns, and brought me to consulting and death doula work.My research has included topics related to: queer theory, cultural anthropology, critical race theory, East Asian studies, neuroscience, psychology, trauma informed care, anthropology of the body, Latinx studies, Native American studies, public health, environmental sociology, religious studies and so much more! I can definitely say I am a life-long learner, and passionate about so many topics.I am interested in connecting with people across many lines of thought and intersections of identity to produce thought provoking work professionally, personally, and creatively. My life goal is to critically engage with the world around me, and to do the healing work for all of our communities to thrive!
