During the summer of 2017 I completed a six-week internship at Life Scientific, an agrochemical company based in Dublin. During my time there I was initially familiarised with some of the logistical requirements necessary for a chemical company to function, such as keeping up-to-date safety and regulatory guidelines for all on-site chemicals. To this end I became well acquainted with the digital inventory system Labcup as well as more common logistical tasks such as regular instrument calibration and maintenance. Towards the end of my internship I was introduced to basic analytical lab skills, such as the preparation of samples with high accuracy standards as well as separation of crude samples using centrifuges followed by analysis of the obtained fractions using HPLC.

During the summer of 2016 I worked as a Research Assistant in Professor Sylvia Draper's research laboratory in trinity College Dublin, investigating the suitability of triphenylamine derivatives in nitroaromatic sensing studies under the supervision of Dr. Nitheen Kaperi Sanyal. Over the course of my research I became familiar with the procedure for organometallic coupling reactions such as Suzuki and Sonogashira couplings and performed UV-Vis titrations on a nanomolar scale, as well as obtaining significant theoretical background knowledge relating to fluorescence quenching.

My responsibilities included detecting and correcting linguistic, cultural and terminological issues within the German version of videogames. I had to identify the issues in-game, report them in a database, provide a solution and then verify that issues are correctly fixed by the engineers in charge on later versions of the game.
