At Miltenyi Biotec, I'm coordinating a team responsible for the development and production of recombinant antibody fragments such as Fabs, scFv and nanobodies to be used for cell separation, imaging and cell therapy applications. I'm actively involved in every step of the bioprocess, from gene design and expression to purification and functionality testing of the protein. I have a passion for designing and optimizing processes, e.g. improving producer clone screening and USP/DSP development for more efficient recombinant protein production in bacteria and mammalian cells. In addition, I'm experienced in analyzing and presenting scientific data in a multinational research environment and I like interacting, managing and collaborating on challenging projects. Internship performed in the Upstream Process Development (USP) department. Showcasing a newly developed microbial expression vector to produce a clinically-relevant Anti-HIV scFv antibody fragment in Escherichia coli. Part of the work was published. Skills applied and acquired: Western blot analysis, cultivation optimization, protein isolation and quantification.

Internship performed in the Microbial Biotechnology department of Prof. Gilles van Wezel in the Institute of Biology, Leiden. Titel of master thesis: "Elucidating the regulatory mechanism of the novel antibiotic lugdunomycin in Streptomyces sp. QL37". Skills applied and acquired: Generation of deletion mutants, extraction of secondary metabolites.

Internship performed in the In-Process Control unit of the Biologics Drug Substance Supply department, Technical R&D. Working with HPLC methods to analyse data and monitor manufacturing processes associated with the production of clinical grade monoclonal antibodies for drug substance.
