As a student I worked part time for Terrapinn, an international business media company specialising in conferences and major industry gatherings focusing on strategy, innovation and technology. Their trade exhibitions are market places for global business. I started out as a conference host, assisting conference attendees. My responsibilities were increased over time to a point where I assisted the running and management of VIP conference floors.

This was an unpaid position taken up while studying, solely to expand my knowledge and experience in the field of hospitality management. The nature and size of this prestigious boutique hotel provided me with exposure to the various internal departments where I gained an understanding of their inner-workings as well as their role in the overall functioning of the establishment. My responsibilities grew to overseeing and coordinating various functions and events as well as guest management. Time spent with the owners of the hotel gave me valuable insight into executive decision making, effective delegation and the role which they played in the success of the establishment.
