My role at Aviva is within the CASS department's middle office. A typical day involves the manipulation of extremely large data sets within Excel, analysing the information for potential breaches of the CASS & COBS rules set out by the FCA. The data is taken from the Aviva investment platform which facilitates the investment needs of a multitude of clients and IFA's. My roles involves the ability to recognise errors and potential errors, flagging these and following these issues through to resolution to ensure that the client is not impacted by any corporate error or technical problem.

My role at the WYCA involved the co-ordination of a team of 5 enterprise coordinators who would work alongside Yorkshire schools to supply employment exposure to pupils to prepare them for entry into post-school employment. My job involved working predominantly with excel to track SLA's and produce M.I. During my brief time with the WYCA I sought to improve the efficiency of the department by automating excel reports, improving reporting systems and reducing the frequency of statistical errors; this enabled the team of enterprise coordinators to focus on providing a high service level to pupils across the region.

My job typically involved producing daily valuations of several collective investment schemes, run by Odey, Standard Life, Prudential and Eclectica, with assets under management totalling over £4 billion. My day to day role required the bringing together of various aspects of an investment fund, produced by several departments, ascertaining if the information is accurate and then producing a price within tight S.L.A’s. This was aided by the manipulation of Excel in tandem with InvestOne. The fund price was then published via the F.T or similar financial publication. I was exposed to many types of investments and had to have a broad understanding of these.

My duties involved running and maintaining contracts in providing accommodation to a variety of individuals ranging from students to Home Office officials.During a typical day, I would provide accommodation on a short and long term lease to various clients, I would make sure that the properties under my control are of a high standard and meet my client’s needs and requirements.I made sure the properties that I was responsible for were occupied for the maximum possible time and to the most efficient extent thus maximising profits.I was responsible for around 55 properties varying in location and size. I maintained their occupancy and condition with the help of the maintenance workers at my disposal.I was also responsible for the finance in my office; this involved the issuing of funds to purchase materials and equipment for properties to keep them to a high standard. I kept records of these purchases with double-entry bookkeeping and reported to our head office on a monthly basis. I was responsible for the distribution and recording of around £20,000 p/month.
