The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation was a statutory authority created by the Victorian Parliament to address the challenge of gambling harm in the Victorian community. My role involved facilitating the funding and conduct of gambling research through procurement, grant, and project management work, as well as making direct research contributions via data analysis, report writing, plain language summaries and presentations to stakeholders.Key responsibilities included:● Managing the Electronic Gaming Machine Environment Study (EGMES), an internal Foundation project involving an in-venue survey of EGM users from ten Victorian clubs and hotels, and an online survey of gaming room staff. I managed all stages of the project, including appointment of the fieldwork supplier, venue recruitment and development of study materials. l also conducted the data analysis, wrote the final report and website summary, and delivered presentations to a range of stakeholders including the Commissioners of the VGCCC ● The success of the EGMES led to an extension of this research - the Casino Gambling Environment Study (CGES) - focused on Crown Melbourne, which I again managed. The project will provide vital information on topics about which little is known, including table game gambling, the impact of reforms such as mandatory pre-commitment, and experiences and responses to harm in the casino setting.● Plain language research summaries for the Foundation's website and online newsletter, on topics including gambling among young people, cashless gambling, and limit-setting for online gambling● Submissions to various gambling-related inquiries, including the 2021 Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence (Crown), in which the Foundation played an influential role in securing important harm minimisation reforms

The Black Dog Institute is a translational research institute focused on the understanding, treatment and prevention of mental illness. In this role, I worked predominantly in the review of suicide prevention strategies. Key responsibilities included:● Conducting a review to identify government policy interventions for suicide prevention outside of the health sector and developing and implementing the search strategies for a series of planned systematic reviews (one as first author)● Reviewing the RUOK suicide prevention guidelines; assessing the recommended intervention strategies against existing guidelines and making recommendations based on peer-reviewed evidence● Reviewing the effectiveness of incorporating peer workers into mental health careI also worked extensively on the ‘ibobbly’ project, which assessed the effectiveness of the first suicide prevention app designed for Indigenous people, and involves participants from six locations across Australia. Key responsibilities included:● Submission of ethics applications and amendments and ensuring the study protocol and materials remained up to date● Liaising with coordinators at remote study sites to negotiate goals and timelines, discuss strategies for participant recruitment and monitor study progress● Conducting presentations to raise awareness of the study

The New South Wales Child Development Study (NSW-CDS) is a large-scale longitudinal study of childhood mental health and well-being. In this role I worked predominantly in a data management position, which provided me with extensive experience in the management of large datasets, including data collation and cleaning, merging of datasets, deriving new variables for analysis, and a wide range of statistical analyses. Key responsibilities included:● Development of tailored feedback reports for 600 schools, 12 Catholic Dioceses and 3 education sectors that participated in the Middle Childhood Survey of the NSW-CDS● Data entry and management● Preparation of datasets for the research team and external investigators● Development and maintenance of accurate data processing documents and data dictionaries● Preparation of lay reports of data outcomes● Production of written, tabular and visual materials for research reports and presentations

The Priority Research Centre for Generational Health and Ageing (PRCGHA) is a multi-disciplinary research centre utilising public health/policy, clinical and basic science disciplines. I worked closely with multiple academics across a wide range of areas. This role required flexibility and the ability to prioritise my own workload. Key responsibilities included:● Facilitating identification of funding opportunities and submission of grant applications● Contributing to academic papers and reports (including one as first author)● Research and critical appraisal of academic and grey literature● Conducting reviews to inform the selection of Australian Longitudinal Study of Women's Health (ALSWH) survey items● Preparation of Expressions of Interest for data access and linkage to health datasets● Membership of Committees overseeing the ALSWH study, and promotion of Research Centre● Preparation of plain language summaries for Research Centre blog● Maintaining Research Centre and ALSWH social media pages
