I value my liberal arts college education which taught me to learn widely, think deeply and to care about this world and my place in it.After graduating, I worked with my hands in various trades including HVAC, Construction, Plumbing, Landscaping and Electrical. In 2013 I began the dream of regenerative farming and continue to this day. Although direct marketing is a challenge, I am proud to see steady improvements in soil carbon, forage quality and livestock health. I have developed Silvopasture, Mixed Species grazing herds, and a Forage-based Pig breed. I also conceived, and helped found an annual conference "Michigan Grassfest" for state-wide grassfed meat producersIn recent years, as the farm became more time-efficient, I began to consider how to provide employment for neglected groups: the homeless, disabled, very low income, and felony records. I built a construction business that allows me to offer flexible employment to these people, giving them income and teaching hard and soft skills.My most important experiences, past and future will be the time and skills invested in my family and faith
