I am currently a Senior Managing Associate at Environmental Science Associates (ESA). My home office is in Petaluma, California, but I also work in ESA's San Francisco and Sacramento offices. Founded in 1969, ESA is the premier environmental consulting firm in the Bay Area, and has built its reputation by delivering top-rate work for complex and controversial environmental and natural resource management projects. My current projects include: light rail transit projects with the Federal Transit Administration and local transit agencies; public/affordable housing projects with the Department of Housing and Urban Development and local housing agencies; Federal Highway Administration local assistance projects with Caltrans and local transportation agencies; and many commercial, residential and mixed-use projects for local jurisdictions and private applicants.

At AECOM I spent most of my time managing projects related to renewable energy and transportation. My work included development of a utility-scale photovoltaic solar project and an associated transmission line in the Mohave Desert on BLM and private lands. I also managed two light rail transit extension projects, one in Marin County and the other in Sacramento. In both cases, my work freed up tens of millions in federal funds for local transit agencies. Also at AECOM, I continued my communication site work and prepared and processed NEPA documentation for a dozen communication sites on BLM lands.

Riverside, Ca And San Francisco, Ca

While I was at Atkins, I managed NEPA and CEQA environmental compliance work for public and private sector projects throughout California. Projects I worked on at Atkins included the County of Riverside's $150 million overhaul of its emergency services communication network (I began this work at my previous firm, Michael Brandman Associates), an extension of the Sacramento Regional Transit District's light rail system, several park and recreation facilities in Riverside County, and a controversial residential and recreation facilities development project in the City of Alameda. Towards the later part of my tenure at Atkins, I handled the biological resources analysis and mitigation formulation for Facebook's new and expanded campus in the City of Menlo Park. The new campus will ultimately house about 9,400 employees.In the U.S., what is now known as Atkins was formerly known as PBS&J, and before that as EIP Associates in California. EIP was acquired by PBS&J in 2006, and PBS&J was acquired by Atkins in late 2010. Atkins is based in the UK and is one of the world's largest engineering and design consultancies.

While at MBA, I managed NEPA and CEQA document preparation, biological and cultural resources surveys, and environmental permitting for public and private sector clients. My work on the County of Riverside's $150 million overhaul of its emergency services communication network began at MBA, and I subsequently took that work with me when I left MBA in 2008 and came on with PBS&J/Atkins. Other projects I managed at MBA included a number of large (3,000+ unit) residential subdivision projects, roadway projects, and a 15 million square-foot regional logistics/warehousing facility in Barstow, CA.

At Stateside I supervised a staff of associates who gathered legislative and issue intelligence for Fortune 500 companies and trade organizations on legislative activities in all 50 U.S. states. Some of my clients included Toyota North America, General Motors, Major League Baseball, the National Retail Federation, and Marriott.

Tucson, Arizona

At the Udall Center I provided research support for environmental collaboration and conflict resolution efforts within Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. My principal accomplishment while working there was successfully co-managing a large-scale public input process for a controversial water management plan for the San Pedro River in southeastern Arizona and northeastern Sonora, Mexico. This work formed the basis for my Master's degree thesis.

At the Sonoran Institute I provided research support for environmental collaboration and conflict resolution efforts within Arizona and the western U.S.

Phoenix, Az

I provided staff assistance to the House Committee on Environment, where I drafted bill amendments, briefed members, and presented legislation before majority caucus and committee. Some of the legislation I worked on included a comprehensive overhaul of the state's hazardous waste contamination liability laws, the establishment of a water treatment grant program to assist smaller water suppliers, numerous air quality measures, and the Arizona Preserve Initiative, which created a mechanism whereby State Trust Lands could be set aside for conservation purposes.
