As a mechanical designer at Barton Associates I preform design calculations. I design and draft layouts of project elements. I research code requirements and prepare studies and reports. I also do fieldwork including surveys and documenting of existing conditions in buildings. My main focuses are HVAC and plumbing design in hospitals and educational facilities.

Partnered with SIM Burkina Faso to research vegetable oil as a clean energy source (2016-17). Designed an electric three-wheel tricycle for persons with disabilities living in Burkina Faso and drafted paperwork for replication overseas (2017-19). Redesigned and tested the Cunningham Clubfoot brace for a more cost-efficient build and feasibility (2019-20). Gained extensive experience with teamwork, communication, documentation, project management, shop skills, and implementation of engineering techniques.

Drafted SolidWorks models, assisted in research and design of a new model of the company’s flagship product, resolved factory floor issues, assisted in quality control, fostered friendships with the engineers, factory workers, and sales team, and learned the importance of a strong connection between business and engineering.

Gained multidisciplinary experience drafting contracts, preparing legal documents, bookkeeping, repairing vehicles, driving the company van, and managing inventory.

Assistant Manager: Responsibilities included restocking, inventory, countdown and closing.Manager: Directed a small team and gained skills in delegation, leadership, and communication. Managed finances, inventory, and designed cakes.
