Leading the Digital Engineering team was one of the proudest roles I have had. Whilst a much smaller team than some of my previous roles the work that that team completes is fundamental to the future success of our business, and indeed, industry. This role is tested me in new ways as I honed my skills on leading through influence and managing change. Change is so common throughout our teams and our world and yet it is so often overlooked or rushed. Leading this incredible talented team through the broad adoption of Model Based Engineering, Data Engineering and Data Analytics was a privilege and a rewarding task. I did most of this role in a part time capacity at my request - as a new father I have found a new respect for a more balanced set of commitments - I am fortunate to have a very progressive employer that both promotes and supports me in this

This came as a huge surprise. Through some staffing changes I was offered the opportunity to act as the SEIT Director for Boeing Defence Australia. This role saw me lead a team of over 300 people and contribute to the senior leadership team of the company. The 12 months I spent in this role has challenged me, excited me and inspired me like no other 12 month period at work. The skills I learnt through my business development days, my initial tentative steps in to leadership, my culture work leading the site all came to bare quite quickly as I really threw myself at this opportunity. I am so proud of the way I approached this role, what I achieved, the diverse teams I helped build, the safety culture I affected,the opportunities I gave to others, the mistakes I made and the connections I built. I trust myself now more than ever as a result of this 12 month period - a characteristic that I hadn't truly appreciated until recently.

This role taught me how to lead a large team and how to develop other leaders. With nearly 100 people in the Integration and Test team I took pride in how I developed front line leaders and shared my experience, knowledge and counsel with them. This experience has clarified why I have become and love being a leader - to give opportunity and share experience.

Over 2 years I led the growth and site operations associated with the Boeing Defence Australia Adelaide CBD office. This role taught me to trust myself and how to manage many diverse stakeholder needs and how to communicate in a remote team. Building the outstanding culture of our amazing site and leading such an incredible and diverse team was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my career
