I gained hands-on experience and helped construct a very elaborate, yet modern house called Shelter3. The house was constructed at Crowder College in Neosho Missouri and Drury University in Springfield, Missouri and shipped to Irvine for the competition. Both schools collaborated to compete in the decathlon while inspiring natural disaster survivors especially those affected by the Joplin, Missouri F-5 tornado back on May 22, 2011 by building a house able to withstand 200+ mph winds.
