With Shannon and Wilson I perform tasks consistent with staff level geotechnical engineer including field soil testing such as SPTs, CPTs, DCPs, rock coring, refraction microtremor testing, pile driving analysis, cross-hole sonic logging, construction observation of deep foundations such as drilled shafts, driven piles, and subgrade inspection. I perform laboratory testing such as washes, sieves and atterberg limits. I am also certified to use the nuclear density gauge. In the office I assist with writing reports and geotechnical engineering design and analysis.

I am in an engineering and business training position with IntertekPSI. I am involed in all Geotechnical Processes including lab testing, field testing, giving geotechnical design parameters, and writing geotechnical reports. My specific experience includes drilling/sampling using hollow stem auger, mud-rotary and CPT. In my graduate research I also used a DMT. I also have performed infiltration testing, refraction micrometer and resistivity testing (Wenner 4-probe). In the lab I have perfomred tests with concrete, asphalt, and various soils tests such as atterberg limits, sieve analyses, moisture content, resitivity, PH and density determination. I have also performed various construction observations such as installation of various deep foundations (driven piles, drilled shafts, and compaction grout), field density tests, suitability of native subgrades, soil reuse and suitability, and roadway proofrolls. I have experience performing the analysis for geotechnical field work as well including infiltration rates, refraction micrometer, resistivity and consolidation. Further I have performed various engineering calculations for elastic and consolidation settlement, bearing capacity and minimum foundation dimensions, and passive earth pressure equivalent fluid weights.PSI has me currently in their Manager in Training program where I focus 10 to 20 hours a week training in various aspects of the business operations of the company including managing expenses, monitoring profit and loss, sales, and other related business operations. They are preparing me to manage a department or office at the end on my first 18 months with the company.

I worked with Dr. Kyle Rollins at the end of my time as an undergraduate and during my time as a graduate student. I was involved in his bast induced liquefaction experiment in conjunction with the Univeristy of Arkansas. In this experiment we place charges surrounding driven piles and deep foundations and set them off to induce liquefaction in the surrounding soil. I performed calculations of the pile and shafts capacity using CPT and SPT data, as well as calculations estimating various soil parameters. I was involved in experiment set up and execution. Finally, I was in charge of presenting the results of the driven piles as a part of my masters thesis.As Dr. Rollin's teaching assistant I helped the students of his shallow foundations class with their homework and test preparation. I graded homework and helped correct the homework key so it would better help the students with design questions that could have various possible answers. I also taught the class on two occasions.
