I’m a mathematician-programmer with a passion for understanding complex algorithms and computer simulations. Thanks to my time in a math PhD program, I excel at analytical problem-solving and technical communication. I have a particularly deep knowledge of graduate-level geometry, algebra, and topology: objects like tensors and manifolds are my bread and butter. I’m also a capable programmer, at ease writing test cases, using git, and navigating command line. My preferred coding languages are C++ and Python; I have over 4 years of experience in each.To me, math is a descriptive language of ideas, not a fixed set of formulas. I seek out technologies and tools that leverage such perspectives. On the concrete side, I've used AVX intrinsics to vectorize C++ code, achieving a 4x speedup. On the abstract side, I've done research in computational geometry and topological data analysis. Current topics of interest include GPU programming and machine learning. Finally, I'm big believer in collaborative problem solving and open-source tools.[Cover image by rawpixel.com on Freepik.]

Data Science BootcampThe Erdős Institute May 2024 - PresentCompleted course covering exploratory data analysis, regression, time-series forecasting, and classification techniques. For the final project, we conducted a multi-category classification of land cover type, based on waveforms of LIDAR return profiles from surface vegetation, achieving a 78% accuracy via k-nearest neighbors clustering. I cleaned, visualized, and analyzed government datasets, using Python libraries scikit-learn and pandas. I'm currently enrolled in deep learning bootcamp. -
Graduate Student Ta/RaStony Brook University Aug 2020 - May 2024Comprehensive mathematical toolkit, from 7 years of graduate-level coursework and upward of 1,000 hours spent fielding questions in office hours/tutoring sessions. Well-honed technical communication skills: comfortable presenting technical information to audiences of different knowledge levels. -
Calc 3 InstructorStony Brook University Jul 2023 - Aug 2023Stony Brook, New York, United StatesTaught multivariable calculus during the 6 week summer session, acting as the sole instructor for the course. In response to a double-paced course and marathon 4.5 hour classes, planned out course schedule and class time, alternating between lecture time, guided practice, and short breaks. -
ResearcherInstitute For Pure And Applied Mathematics Jun 2021 - Aug 2021I collaborated with other grad students on industrial project related to optimal placement of 5G wireless transmitters. We explored the particle swarm algorithm and other techniques for optimizing functions with many local extrema and a large parameter space. Using tools from topological data analysis and evolutionary algorithms, we implemented a Python program that minimizes the number of sensors necessary for coverage. -
Teaching AssistantThe Summer Science Program Jun 2020 - Jul 2020Socorro, New Mexico, United StatesTaught mathematical background behind orbital determination to a group of 40 advanced high school students. Helped students write and debug their programs that interpolate an orbit from telescope observations in NumPy. Automated grading of student submissions for CS assignments, via a mix of Bash scripting and Python. -
Mathematics TutorUniversity Of Michigan Aug 2018 - Mar 2020Ann Arbor, Michigan, United StatesTutor at the math department's homework help center. -
