My role in State Street was an intern in the Tax Department working a part of the Custody Tax Operations team. Custody Tax Operations team in Dublin is responsible for delivering custody tax and local tax compliance to Irish and European fund clients. The team focuses on services provided to tax transparent fund structures in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) such as including Investor on-boarding, tax documentation and tax reclaim processing.My job duties and responsibilities:• Processing investor level reclaims for all markets in EMEA.• Assist in reviewing of withholding tax rates in all global markets to ensure that clients are receiving the appropriate tax rates are set up in core systems.• Assist with the timely completion and review of client facing tax deliverables to ensure that business standards and client deadlines are met on a consistent basis.• Assist with the review and validation of relief at source tax documentation as part of the investor on-boarding process.• Ensure operational processes are followed and appropriate controls in place to mitigate risk.• Assist with the review and investigation of ad-hoc tax queries (internal and client queries)As part of my placement I also undertook a role of being a member of the Ireland Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
