I provided round-the-clock physical, emotional, and daily living support for two ailing family members. I remained available for emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week and coordinated doctor visits, medications, therapeutic recreation, and other necessities. My activities ensured a healthy, sustainable lifestyle for the recipients of my care. Ultimately, we achieved a smooth transition to New Mexico for increased familial support.

Dedicating two years of my life to human service, I joined the Peace Corps to live within and serve a small rural town in El Salvador. After coordinating a community census to learn as much as I could about the town's people and their strengths and needs, I designed and implemented several projects at the local school aiming to build the students'​ personal and professional capabilities.After discussing ideas and planning with the community, I launched several series of workshops tailored to positive youth development, including self-esteem, English, visual arts, early-age literacy, and photography. Each of these projects included many interactive activities in order to find and emphasize the youth's distinct, existing personalities and skills.Due to the high rate of crime and gang activity in El Salvador, these projects also served to keep the youth busy. Being engaged in positive and productive activities lowered the risk of them getting involved with the gangs or other negative activities.For these projects, I wrote detailed project proposals, goals, evaluations, and lesson plans in Spanish as a resource for community teachers and other Peace Corps Volunteers.Successful realization of these youth-oriented community projects required effective, dynamic communication skills, consistent attention to detail, and bilingual writing and speaking skills. Furthermore, this experience has demonstrated my ability to communicate with diverse groups of people while thriving and succeeding in very different cultures.

Business Affairs is an administrative office within Oregon State University that focuses on student billing, payroll, emergency student loans, and other financial matters.In this role, I researched and designed resources and tools to help new students navigate financial decisions as they transition from youth into adulthood. These projects focused on bridging the gaps between students and existing resources. One project was to produce a financial literacy video guide regarding student loans, financial aid, and tuition and loans payments. In another project, I initiated development of an in-depth Financial Resource Guide web portal and provided recommendations for the continuation of the project after my departure.

As an intern through PROMISE (Professional and Managerial Internships in State Employment) at Oregon State University, I provided assistance and insight into the students' perspective in several projects. These included policy analysis, the redesign of the website, and the creation of a new financial literacy program for new students, all of which required a high level of content analysis and attention to detail.

Serving on the executive cabinet for the university's student government, I represented the student government and connected the organization with the student body. General duties included supporting student leaders in their projects, overseeing the production of ASOSU promotional materials and events advertising, and promoting a unified image of the organization to the student body and the public at-large.I oversaw and delegated projects to a staff of three multimedia designers and improved organization and visibility of internal affairs. I launched ASOSU Fact Check, an online initiative to realize effective communication about ASOSU, and overhauled ASOSU’s website and social media for improved organization and accessibility.

As a member of the chapter's executive council, I was actively involved in internal house affairs, including organizing events and policy analysis. I worked tirelessly to support the needs and desires of the brotherhood while improving the organization's financial stability.Effective budgeting and careful decision-making allowed me to manage the annual budget ($180,000), eliminate all debt (over $8,000), and establish a contingency fund ($4,000). I wrote the work contracts for and supervised the house Cook and Assistant Cook. I successfully managed relationships with house members, the executive council, the alumni board (to whom we paid rent), the cooking staff, and various community organizations through effective communication and time management.

As the Station Manager, I oversaw all operations of the student-run college radio station funded by student fees. In this time, I revived and revitalized the declining organization, turning it back into a thriving center of programs and on-air personality.During my tenure, the radio station more than tripled its live on-air presence, increasing from about 50 radio hosts to over 100 and from about 30 hours of live broadcast per week to over 90. KBVR's relations with community organizations strengthened as underwriting grant income from local businesses increased from $500 to $2,000 per quarter.With a record high enrollment of DJs resulting from attentive community coordination, I overhauled the DJ training system and restarted the music department, resulting in improved broadcast quality as well as more music being sent to the station from independent record labels.I interviewed, hired, and supervised a staff of 17 student leaders; was responsible for all staff, volunteer, and DJ conduct; and remained available for emergencies at all hours of the day. I managed a budget of just over $101,000 and ensured the station complied with all legal regulations (FCC, CLI, et cetera).

I was hired to create and produce a daily news program in order to fulfill the station's public service requirements as outlined by the Federal Communications Commission. I oversaw daily operations of the news program as well as the continual production of Public Service Announcements.Utilizing productive community coordination, I recruited a team of approximately 10 students each academic quarter and trained them to research, write, produce, and present a 30-minute broadcast. Whereas most participants had little or no previous broadcasting experience, trainings emphasized effective public speaking, accurate writing skills, and proficiency with the technical equipment.

On behalf of the landlord, I managed and lived in a residence primarily for international university students. General duties included ensuring the timely resolution of house maintenance, filling vacancies, and evicting residents as the last option when it was clear it was the most productive choice.As most tenants were from different countries, cultures, languages, and backgrounds, I worked to foster a safe, inter-cultural environment so every resident could feel at home. I enforced house rules and acted as a mediator during internal conflicts. Bridging the gap between people of different cultures required a high level of cultural competency and effective communication.Throughout my residence, I educated myself in Oregon housing laws and policies to advocate for foreign students who did not always know their rights.
