Son of creative parents, I grew up in a 200+ year old Georgian house. Taught from a young age how to maintain the property, I picked up many skills from an early age, including sash window, frame repairs, basic joinery, painting and decorating to mention a few. Diagnosed with Dyslexia at a young age, I decided to explore my more creative rather than academic side, I went on to study Art & Design at school and college, dabbling with sculpture on foundation year, then on to university to study (BA Hons) in Print-making and graphic design. After graduation with a 2:2 in the year 2000, I built up a portfolio of freelance graphic design work, with plans to get into that area of work, but paying off loans led me to a job in clothing and gift retail instead. Gaining a lot of experience in the process, I soon climbed the ladder to a management level, but after working for famous British design company Habitat, I caught the design bug, especially with furniture and lighting design. I decided to explore my creative side once more and became self employed, using my many skills to repair, restore and upcycle furniture and lighting with the aim to sell them on using social media and online market places. iRefurb was born. With many projects and commissions under my belt, I am now making progress and enjoy every creative project I get my hands on. Always looking to learn more techniques and skills, I'm now looking for part time work in a creative area and think my knowledge would be an asset to other like minded individuals.
