Following on from the success of Make a Smile in Cardiff, I formed additional committees in universities across the UK. My role includes providing oversight and development to the Board of Trustees and Chapter Committee Members, providing advice and guidance based upon experience, ensuring compliance with legality and best practice and ensure the constant improvement and evolution of the charity.

My role as a Lead Volunteer pioneered events throughout Make a Smile. A Lead Volunteer is the most experienced volunteer at an event and is responsible to ensure its success and the development of the attending volunteers. This involves having a clear grasp on the expectations of an event, building a good rapport with staff, parents, children and other volunteers, being highly adaptable to deal with any issues as they arise, such as safeguarding, and being able to interact with children in a meaningful way while keeping an eye on other volunteers and the event as a whole.

With the success of Make a Smile within the UK, I opened a number of chapters within International Universities including within Australia, France and Germany. These are each overseen by a Board of Trustees within their respective country. My role is to then provide advice and guidance to these Trustees to ensure they fill the role and encourage collaboration between Boards.

On a weekly basis, I mentor the college's applicants for medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine. It is my role to support them with their applications and plan and run lessons that provide them with insight and the opportunity to develop useful skills.

As a Wellbeing Champion, I would work to raise awareness of wellbeing and mental health support within Cardiff University and provide support to struggling students. This would include proactively providing support, signposting, workshops and 1-2-1 support sessions.

Throughout my time as a widening participation ambassador I have filled a number of roles, leading to my promotion to Lead Ambassador. Of key note, I took lead in the establishment and integration of Minecraft as a teaching medium for autistic participants through the covid pandemic, ensuring a successful set up and experience. I have also given several different talks, run numerous workshops and taught key stage 3 science to potential students from a range of backgrounds including deprivation and young carers.

As a student ambassador I support the university with their admissions including giving talks about my experiences at university, both on campus and off, giving virtual Q&A sessions and site tours.

Within this role, I meet alongside key members of Cardiff University Medical School to discuss medical school policy including admissions, curriculum and assessments. I strive to provide a student insight into these issues.

Working as a care assistant with roles including manual handling and personal care.

I took a hands-on role within Cardiff Volunteering in Cardiff Student's Union as a part of the volunteering executive. This role involved working with staff to oversee a number of projects ensuring that the needs of the lead volunteers were met and they were encouraged to perform the best that they could to allow the projects to succeed.

I worked with the rest of the Board of Trustees to manage and develop Cardiff Volunteering, within the Student's Union. This involved creating direction plans, balancing finances and proposing new schemes. Of particular note, I was keen to provide a student perspective.

I provide support to students across Cardiff who are interested in applying for medicine but attend a comprehensive school that does not offer much specialist support. This includes giving talks and advice on the application process, running mock interviews and marking personal statements.

As President, I founded Make a Smile, in Cardiff, recruiting other students to form a committee and begin volunteering activities whereby volunteers would visit and provide enrichment activities to children in hospital and disabled children in the community, often dressed as well-known children's characters. My role involved overseeing the committee, including providing development opportunities, organising large and small events and providing general direction and policy.

As head coach, it is my role to run the team and develop young cricketers. This includes selection at the start of the year, organising and running training sessions and matches with the help of assistant coaches and nurturing young talent to instil a love of cricket, as well as develop their abilities.
