Hello! I am a mechanical engineer with six years of experience in coding, digital signal processing, and multivariate statistical analysis in the interdisciplinary health technology fields of biomechanics. My passion is biomechanical assistive device design, such as orthotics and prosthetics, but my interests and talents are broad! In short, I am an engineer who can understand health related data, and effectively communicate those data to others. My proudest career accomplishment to date involved designing and testing a novel supportive ankle-foot orthosis (ankle brace) to assist with walking. This project was self-supported via a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. I led the project, in collaboration with a private company, from design inception, prototyping, material testing, and ultimately human subject recruitment and biomechanical testing. This work involved the successful management of both hard and soft skills - collecting and analyzing complex data while also interacting with patients at a very personal level. I also have a passion for mentoring and teaching both students and peers! I have been a member of a peer support group EmPOWER (Empathetic Peers Offering Wisdom, Encouragement, & Resources) during my time in graduate school, tutoring undergraduate students, and providing teaching assistance and guest lecturing for courses at the university level.
