I collaborate closely with the design team and take responsibility for modifications, often designing and machining parts to enhance performance. Additionally, I frequently work on-site, handling installations, modifications, and servicing.

My role is to ensure that every part of the rebuild process is to the highest quality from strip down to final inspection. My aim is to supply the highest quality spindle rebuild available with complete transparency for the customer. I have refurbished and tested all kinds of Mazak, Franz Kessler, DMG, Okuma and many other Machine Tool Spindles as well as rebuilding them to the same high standards as new units. I have worked with Horizontal and Vertical Type Spindles, as well as Lathe, Router and Small Cartridge Spindles. My job as supervisor is very enthusiastic, but also very demanding. Besides the rebuild and testing, I also replace the parts and write the reports for customers. I also design the tools for the jobs as needed.

I am incredibly experienced in refurbishing and testing all kinds of Mazak Machine Tool Spindles and rebuilding them to the same high standards as new units. Predominantly I am specialised in building Horizontal Type Spindles, but I can also build Lathe and Small Cartridge Spindles. There is a lot of variation in my work and I have new builds coming through all the time which make things exciting and motivating. Previously I have also worked in the stores and final inspection in SSC and have been a Kaizen Chairman leading and developing a few projects that really made a difference.I am constantly improving myself and the team by increasing my knowledge by taking different courses that will refine my skills. Train the Trainer, Manual Handling, Overhead Crane and Electrical Flash Testing were some of the courses I took while working for Mazak. I have concluded as well an important Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing, Fitting & Assembly in 2016. All of these courses allow me to train people quite often while on the job and having a role at Mazak like this is something that I quite enjoy doing. I am also very keen in learning through new challenges and have plenty of knowledge to tackle every problem.

Although I initially started as a CMM Inspector I quickly became a Non Destructive Tester and I was responsible for making sure that the Dye Penetrant Line in Gas Turbines Blades was running correctly and efficiently as the company worked on a three shift pattern and the work could not stop so it was imperative that I had to easily pick up the work from the previous shift as well as making sure it was in a position to start for the following shift.

This was a very varied job, making bespoke robot cells and metal manipulation machines such as stretch benders and roll form mills. There was a lot of development work involved. Many practical skills were needed such as milling, turning, welding mig/tig, fabrication and fitting. There was a prototype stretch bender for bending stainless steel caskets that I built and developed on my own and getting it approved was a massive personal achievement. This was also where I have gained my Fork Lift License.

This job mainly involved some very complex cable making and electromechanical fitting. After a short training period I was soon up to speed working on a diverse and complex array of cables with a lot of very fine soldering with top quality and a stringent QC. I was also part of the training team and successfully trained many highly skilled technicians.

This was a fixed term contract to work on the Husky Project for a defence contract. It requested MOD security clearance. Each team was responsible for the whole build and would get the vehicle and do all of the prep work, fit all metal work as well as install all the comms equipment and cable it all up. Being an MOD contract, the quality of the work had to be a very high standard. As more people were employed and the builds become more productionised each team was assigned specific roles. Consequently, I was put into a cabling team, which installed and cabled up all the comms equipment. It was a huge satisfaction to work on such a ground-breaking vehicle. It was extremely gratifying to know my work was going to save lives. When work went slow in Tewksbury on this project I went to Malvern to work on many of their other projects. I learnt a lot of new skills here as formerly I had a very limited electrical experience which improved a lot after this role. It was a very high paced and demanding job and I had great pleasure in being part of such a phenomenal team.

Here I did everything from simple sheet metal jobs to measuring, building and installing them. It was a huge challenge as it pushed my practical skills to the limit, particularly the welding mig and tig in various materials such as mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium. A lot of site work was involved in this job and I had to work closely with customers to achieve exactly what they wanted. One of the most enjoyable jobs I did was a water reclamation system for an industrial laundry.

My first responsibility in this job was to build all the sample, development and special pipe work. It was quite the challenge as I had to use all the equipment in the tool room and production area from a CMM to a hacksaw. I had to develop jobs from scratch, refine route cards and make sure the quality job could be attained when it went to full production. I worked very closely with the senior engineers and engineering director to achieve this. Besides the pipe work I also made tools and have learnt to write simple programs on a CNC Lathe.

This was my first job. I went from all aspects of development to just running the tool room and machine shop. It was still a great job as I still had to run the factory and would be called to set CNC bending machines and end form equipment as well as final inspection. I could programme, set and run all the machinery in the factory as well as built the sample pipe work. My job was quite enjoyable but as the company got bigger the work became less attractive.
